An Unfortunate First Week Back...

Hello friends :) What a fun/painful 3 days back I've had! So sorry I haven't shared our 'welcome back' activities yet. Let me fill you in on what happened.
It was Sunday afternoon. I had just pulled into my driveway after a 2 hour drive home from my parents house. My two chihuahuas (Lola and Liam) were in the car with me. I park in the driveway and bring the dogs into the house then went back outside to unpack the car! Apparently, I did not shut the door completely and Liam managed to escape somehow. This is the little culprit:

He may look all sweet and innocent, but man is he a handful. I seriously love him though. How can you not, look at that face! Back to the story - so I turn around to see him darting down the driveway. I started to run to chase him when I twisted my knee in a very wrong way. My entire kneecap dislocated and was on the side of my leg (sorry to be so graphic). I literally collapsed to the ground on top of Liam, throwing my iPhone and iPad in the air. Thank god I did not break any of those three things. So I carefully straightened my leg and pushed my kneecap back into place. I rushed off to the emergency room. They were so completely useless. They didn't take one x-ray or even look at it. They gave me a leg immobilizer and crutches and told me to get to a specialist when I could. Grrrrr. So I have been on crutches alllll day the past 3 days. It is excruciating. My knee is like throbbing and my arms are so sore because I'm a weakling. Thank god my kids have been so good. They are so sweet and have helped me out a ton! I finally went to an orthopedic specialist today and the outlook is not good. I'm going to have to have surgery! AAAAAH! I'm so stressed and scared. I felt like puking.  I don't really have many details yet, I'm getting an MRI tomorrow and going back in on Friday. You guys, this sucks. I'm feeling very overwhelmed. I need some happy thoughts and love sent my way if you have some to spare! What's a kindergarten teacher on crutches to do?!

But in the end, it will be ok. ( that's what I keep telling myself at least!) I will be back later this week to share our week with you. I haven't taken as many pictures as usual due to the lack of hands. I'm sure my kids are happy not to be blinded by my flash all day! Ha!

Just a reminder that today is the last day of my Buy ANY product, get ANY product free sale! Thanks so much to those of you who have already taken part in the sale! Click below to take you to the post to get all the deets!

  5. I'm sorry to hear your news, Khrys!! That is just awful. You were pretty brave to push your own kneecap back into place. I think I would have just screamed. Ouch! Isn't it amazing how our students realize when something just isn't right, and they are super sweet?! I hope you feel better very soon!

    1. Thank you for your kind thoughts Dawn :) it was sooo scary. I just did it quickly without really thinking about it. It's amazing what you can do under pressure haha I know, aren't they just the best? I was so thankful for their sweet words and all the help they are giving me. I even had one little guy trying to move my crutches for me while I was walking ha!

  6. Oh no! So sorry that happened to you! I agree with Dawn, I don't think I would have been able to push my kneecap back in! Sending you healing thoughts and prayers that it won't be too bad and you will recover soon. I dread ever having to have crutches, I don't think I would have the upper body strength for it!

    1. Thank you so much :) I literally have no upper body strength so it is quite a challenge! I'm starting to be concerned about my arms now too! Ha! Thanks again, I truly appreciate you keeping me in your thoughts :)

  7. I so feel your pain. Literally. I've dislocated my kneecap three times. Mine goes all the way to the back. Worst. Pain. Ever. I've never had surgery so I'm curious as to what they tell you. The last time it happened Rey did tell me if it happens agin I'll need knee replacement. Yeah.

Hang in there. I know it's miserable.

    Hugs!

    1. Oh. My. Word. The back of your knee?! Holy crow. Ouchy! That sounds way worse than mine and I felt like I was going to die. I'll definitely keep you posted on what the doc says. I'm heading back in tomorrow afternoon for the final verdict. Eek! I hope you don't end up having to have a knee replacement. We are way to young for this Greg! Thanks for your love :)
